Landscape Photography
Landscape photographs are often comprised of sweeping vistas containing dramatic visuals of mountains, sea, and sky. Landscapes are the most common form of outdoor photographs. A quick internet search will reveal thousands of landscape photographers and their images. With so many, how should you choose the best one to display in your home? Oftentimes, images are loved because of a location more than the image itself. A quality landscape photograph should contain 3 components. First, there should be balance. A blank sky or underexposed foreground will ruin what could be a great image. Second, artificial elements should never be used. Using a computer to generate components of an image is graphic design, not photography. Lastly, landscapes need to be artistic. Evening light, storm clouds, and rainbows can add artistic expression to an image. View my landscape gallery for a visualization of the 3 components of a great landscape photograph as discussed above.
